Planting tips | Potted Plants With potted plants you have a choice whether to leave them in or out of their pots. The potted plants can be buried into the substrate to hide the pots also if you have fish that like to dig then it would better to leave the plants in the pots to protect them. | Stems And Bunches If your plants has a single stem with leaves growing directly from the stem, this can be planted directly into the substrate and should root quickly. If there are any roots growing from any point on the stem then this type of plant can get nourishment directly from the water. | Single Plants Most of these type of plants can be planted straight into the substrate with no problems. There are a few exceptions to this rule, plants that have a central point where leaves and roots grow from, for instance Vallisneria or Echinodorus . This type of plant should be planted with the root crown visible. however if the the plant will not stay down after planting then plant it deep, then after a few days ease them carefully up so that the root crown is visible once more. | Bulbs Unlike the garden bulb that is buried deep into the ground, the aquatic bulbs should never be buried. Instead they should be left sitting on top of the substrate and allowed to root into the substrate by them-selfs. |
